Perks coffee shop, afternoon (I'm boring; I know).

He drinks from straw shakes cup swirls it drinks from straw--it's only whipped cream. His head moves subtly as he speaks but his elbows and forearms are firm on the table and his back straight. His head leans toward an interlocutor but his body stays. Then he laughs and leans back in his chair, arm hanging down behind it, and he smiles. Two left fingers are on the table edge as he checks his iphone with his right hand. He's leaning forward now, again, to see a book being offered to him. His feet have been crossed, knees apart, open, relaxed. He brings them together to turn slightly in his chair then relaxes again. He plays with the edges of the iphone and raises his eyebrows and smiles at a new member of the group. He reaches across the table to touch her book. He takes up most of the table with his thick arms. He touches a paper then his chin and he frowns. Makes shapes with his left hand--the number 1, for example. Writes on her paper and speaks. For a moment his face all comes inward toward a central point. Then back to normal. Forearms flat on table, back straight. His head doesn't move, just hands (drawing) and mouth (speaking). Feet crossed on floor, knees hanging loose apart. He nods now. Laughs at his own joke. He twists his head to the right without moving the arms to look at another book. Picks up iphone, feels all four edges at once. Turns head back and forth to all the notebooks. Glances down at iphone. Leans over again. "Yes," and a firm little nod. His mouth opens and his lips move silently. Then speech and then a pause. Looks down at iphone and turns on the backlight. His right heel is pressed against the leg of the chair, ball and toes on the floor, his foot like this: L. His vowels are harsher than his companions' and he says, "Mine's atrocious." Laughs, turns phone over a couple times. Rocks back and forth. Forearms flat on table, his right hand tense and up off the table as he listens. The hand points to the book and then up off the table again. Both of his hands shift her notebook and then he takes them away. He sits in his chair not straight forward but diagonally. His back and the chair back make a 45 degree angle. His stomach pushes over his red belt. His lower back shows, and the top band of his underwear. His black t-shirt is small and he is big. His eyes are half closed because he's looking down, he looks a little sleepy. His stubble is half-grown and light brown. He curls his lips slightly inward as he speaks. Writes and speaks softly and his eyes stay on the paper. The muscles in his left forearm twitch under the skin as he writes with the mechanical pencil. He writes small. He makes shapes with his hands: A list of things on the table. Things switching places. A sphere. A cloud of things coming out of his mouth. Two parallel lines and two intersecting lines. Actually eight and eight because he uses eight fingers. A straight line around a sphere ("isn't actually straight but curvy"). A thing over here and a thing over there. Things flying out of his head. Himself and others. A plane above another plane. He pulls a book across the table. Looks over at a loud group of girls at the next table when they laugh. Eyes back to the book. One foot behind the other now. Arms flat on the table reaching all the way across. A white pocket lining sticking out of his left pocket. Hand on face; it stays still while he nods up and down to rub his face against it. Bites right middle finger cuticle. "Um." Pause. Head down, back up, hand on forehead. Back curved. Runs hand through the front of his hair and makes it stand up. Bites right fingernail (ring). Scoots back and forth in chair. Laughs but doesn't lean back. Touches ear, bites left fingernail (index). Hand on face. Squeezes fatty part of cheek. Hand back down. Laughs. Back straight again, this time tense, shoulders curving toward the front. A little spiral in the air and a nod and a laugh. His jeans are black with a red seam. His shoes are white with a red stripe (mostly vertical) and three blue (1 mostly vertical, 2 mostly horizontal). A tab in the back says Tiger. Makes more shapes with his hands: Different levels. The lower one comes up to the same height as the higher one. A top level above his head. His arms and hands surround his face in a big square. Two index fingers bounce from left to right in synchronization. Feet crossed again, knees open. Legs make a diamond. Scratches his inner thigh. Hand stays hangning between his legs. Rubs his outer thigh and hand goes back above the table. Talking louder now, harsh vowels. Rubs back of index finger on nose, back and forth and then back down to the table. He scoots his arm forward but the skin on his elbow stays behind and folds. He lifts his arm off the table and the skin catches up.
